Freedom Day is here! On May 21st, 1865, the Chaplain of the Ohio Calvary announced to the congregation of St. Philips Afro-Moravian Church and the residents of Salem that slavery had been legally abolished and they were now an emancipated and free people. On Saturday, May 23rd, Old Salem celebrates emancipation and liberation with our Freedom Day Celebration.
