In these acrylic paintings on wood, I am playing with opposites. I employ traditional painting techniques of color, tone, value and perspective to create the illusion of a three-dimensional object out of a flat surface. I balance the hard-edge straight lines of the panels with the loose hand-painted textures and patterns that give the various components “personality”. My color sense derives from a childhood in California and the Caribbean and an appreciation of the wide range of colors that fill
