Living historians of the American Civil War era will encamp at the Garrett Farm and provide living history demonstrations of the Southern soldiers who would have come out of Alamance County and North Carolina from 1861-1865. Historically, members of the 6th North Carolina Infantry were recruited and mustered into service near Company Shops in what is now downtown Burlington. They would become the first American soldiers to travel by train into combat at Manassas, Virginia in July 1861.
