In February 1865, General W. T. Sherman begins his Carolinas Campaign, devastating South Carolina. Sherman will meet some of the strongest resistance at Congaree Creek, just outside Columbia in Cayce. Congaree Creek will be the last fortified position defended by Confederate forces before the capture of Columbia. Join us for this free guided tour as we walk the battlefield at Congaree Creek and learn its history. This tour takes about two hours and covers roughly 1.5 miles, mostly on sidewalks.
